Portrait Paintings: Ramesh Baheti is an Indian artist, who currently lives in Pune. Being brought up in a village, he wants to bring a piece of village life in his art. For the past 36 years, he has been creating portraits using only farm waste. It's surprising he doesn't use any color in his paintings. He burns the wheat lids to get the desired effect for his paintings. According to Ramesh Baheti, "I found out that the lids, when burned, catch fire immediately. The colour of the straws changes to brown, dark brown or black. I first sketch the outline, then slice the straws and paste them in small pieces on one large portrait. I have never used colours till date. Creating expressive eyes and varying skin tones is not an easy task. It takes a lot of concentration and patience". He has created more than 50 portraits of people and celebrities. His portraits named "Vintage Lady" and "Obama" won the first and second prize in a US based online art gallery. His portrait painting is prized at Rs. 2 lakh each. Enjoy the beautiful portrait artworks by Ramesh Baheti and stay amazed.
