MATERIALS POST / #wip. I get asked all the time what I use and unfortunately can’t respond every time. Specifically this piece, which is a good example to use because a big question was what I use for highlights. It’s the Caran d'ache Luminance pencil in white. (Pictured on bottom above the pens) Out of all the pencils/pastels I’ve used this one is rave worthy. It’s so so brightly pigmented and the white shows up so opaque on the paper. I love it on the toned paper because the contrast makes it pop even more. So that’s the answer! Contrast is also KEY for making highlights pop!
The rest of the materials:
• Paper - Canson Mi-teines Pastel pad
• Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils
• Faber Castell pencil sharpener
• Caran d'ache Luminance colored pencils
• Micro ink pen in black
• White gel pen (also used sometimes for small highlights)
• Pan Pastels (mostly used as a base before pencils)
Hope this helps! I’d love to try and answer other questions with you guys in this post too. But guys - bottom line - this is just what works for me and what I’m using in this particular piece. You don’t need the exact same materials I have to make great art. You just have to experiment with what you have. I’m still trying to get the hang of these new Caran d'ache pencils. Also - LAYERS LAYERS LAYERS. I can’t stress that enough ha. There’s probably 30 layers of pencil just on her nose. And it’s not one specific skin tone color. I will not ever list the colors I use because honestly I would just be listing everything. All the colors pictured are somewhere in my drawing. Don’t stress about the technical stuff too much. Just practice and have fun. Thanks guys! ❤️ #arttips #artmaterials #fabercastell #polychromos #panpastel @panpastel #carandache #draw #tutorial http://ift.tt/2j8FpZL
