Nayan and Vaishali are paper cut artists based in India who through their miniature paper art create different species of birds to bring about awareness and protect these tiny creatures. They believe people will understand the significance of preserving birds when they see them in different mediums of art. First a rough sketch of the bird is drawn on paper and different layers are traced from the sketch on 200 GSM watercolour paper. After hand-cutting each layer they start colouring them with water colours with accurate precision. Lastly these layers are set together to form 3 dimensional versions of the little bird. It takes 4 to 8 hours for them to complete each bird and the tiniest paper bird measures 1.8 cm in height. The technique of layered paper cutting gives a perfect three dimensional look to the birds and expresses intricacy and beauty of the beautiful little birds. Here we are sharing the beautiful miniature paper art work of Nayan and Vaishali for you to enjoy.
