Oldest Rock Artwork of Kimberley Kangaroo Found in Australia

Kimberley, a remote region of Australia has been in news recently for the oldest rock artwork of kangaroo which dates back to 17,300 years.  The two meter long faded image was dated using radiocarbon technique that analysed wasp nests underneath and on top of the ochre-based paint.  The kangaroo painting is found on the ceiling of a rock shelter and it exactly matches with the modern kangaroo.  Researchers feel that this painting and other paintings of the Kimberley region follow the style of earliest cave paintings from Europe and Asia.  Usually the oldest paintings found are of life-size and they represent anatomy in a similar pattern, where their outlines are filled partially with sketched lines.  Here we share few of the ancient rock artworks found in Australia.
